MY CHEESY BREAD PRAYERS HAD BEEN ANSWERED. I could not wait for the diet to end so I could place my order. Thank you Jesus, thank you pizza. They’d contacted me to rectify the situation with a free pizza or cheesy bread of my choice. A few weeks ago they had messed up my order. Walking back from class, I checked my phone and saw that I’d a missed call from Domino’s. Secretly, I hoped someone would eat them… In other news, when I returned to my dorm room, I found that my makeshift freezer was room temperature. I bagged the next two days’ worth of ice cream, labeled them aggressively, and put them into the communal dorm freezer. I brought my pint of melting Mint Chip as my teammates chowed down on chips and guac. I had to attend two dinners and politely sip water through gritted teeth. The second dinner (with my a club lacrosse team) was bearable only because I’ve sworn off Chipotle post-E. Sunday turned out to be torture-Meredith-with-food day. People were amused, excited and confused. I received upwards of a dozen texts a day. I repeated my friend Elena’s mantra to myself, mind over matter.Īt this point, all my friends (and the entire Duke student body) were aware of the ice cream diet. I really couldn’t handle this ice diet anymore. But I had bigger fish to fry than fighting with my teen sister my dry ice had evaporated. I set out for solution and came back from the gas station with two giant bags of ice.Ĭreativity was the only thing keeping me going. “Please post more pictures about your ice cream,” my 15-year-old sister said sarcastically. It’s not like I was eating five pints of Ben & Jerry’s a day. I would be just fine. Plus I was taking a multivitamin to make up for some of the missed nutrients. I ensured them that the ice cream was low in sugar and high in protein. I made the mistake of telling some friends. Still, my energy was wiped and focusing on homework had been extremely difficult. I was becoming an expert ice cream eater. I wasn’t even hungry at this point, but demolished a pint of Lemon Cake in minutes. I begrudgingly opened my freezer to pry out a pint of Vanilla. I set out to the library for the day and didn’t return until midafternoon. “On top of that, Wells simply does things the right way – something that has been at the forefront for us when looking at potential acquirers.I woke up around 9 with a slight headache and a bloated stomach. As Halo Top continues to mature, Wells’ expertise in everything from operations, to managing brands, to making ice cream products for over a century will help Halo Top become an even better product and stronger brand. Justin Woolverton, Founder & CEO of Halo Top, added: “We’re thrilled to join the Wells family. We love ice cream and will leverage Halo Top’s brand equity and awareness to help grow it.”# We have the sales and marketing expertise, but more importantly the passion, to help grow this brand even further. “Wells has been making ice cream products for over 100 years. We feel it is a good fit for the Wells portfolio as we look to broaden our offerings for consumers. “Halo Top met a consumer need that no one else in the category was serving. Mike Wells, CEO and president of Wells Enterprises said: “Halo Top disrupted the ice cream category by providing a high protein, low sugar, low-calorie dessert that gave consumers a reason to purchase ice cream as a treat again. In connection with the purchase, Wells also has agreed to license the Halo Top brand outside of the US and Canada to a new company, which will be led by Doug Bouton, president & COO of Halo Top. The purchase of Halo Top means that Wells now owns five ice cream brands, including the Blue Bunny range. One report from Reuters suggested that Eden Creamery valued the brand at as much as $2 billion. Reports in 2017 suggested that Eden Creamery was exploring a sale of the brand, as the company aimed to capitalise on the growing demand for premium, ‘healthy’ ice cream brands from big businesses aiming to adapt to changing consumer habits. Halo Top produces a wide range of low-calorie ice creams, and was one of the first major brands to build a strong presence in the low-calorie ice cream space. US-based ice cream manufacturer Wells Enterprises has acquired low-calorie ice cream brand Halo Top from Eden Creamery for an undisclosed figure.
